With your application: Include 3 example photos, slides or a website link of your artwork with your application. All three paintings must be original art created by you and available for purchase. Two of the paintings must be Plein Air paintings, the third may be any artwork of your choice. Art selected by a private jury will hang in a preview exhibit over the weekend and may remain hanging in the gallery for the entire month of September if space is available. Artists are responsible for insuring and shipping your own artwork.

COMPETITION:
Compete for over $2000 in prizes. Canvases up to 36”x36” will be stamped at check-in at the ArtSpace 750 Center Street, Herndon Va over the weekend. Freshly completed paintings on stamped canvas must be ready to hang and delivered to the ArtSpace between 5pm and 8pm on Sunday August 31st to be considered for competition. Competition is limited to 15 participants to ensure the best gallery showing of your artwork.

QUICK SKETCH:
The quick sketch competition is open to all artists. Come paint, compete, show your skills and sell paintings with the help of our docents at the intersection of Elden and Lynne Street. “Quick Sketch” canvas stamping begins at 11:00am on Monday. Return your paintings on their easels to the lawn before 3:pm to be included in the quick sketch judging. A variety of prizes donated by area businesses will be awarded.

SALES:
25% of the proceeds from all paintings sold during these events will be donated go to the Herndon Foundation for the Cultural Arts to help host future events, help the foundation thrive and create additional opportunities to support you (the artists) and the community of art lovers. The Paint Herndon Plein Air Event is made possible by countless volunteers who work long hours to help promote the event and indirectly, your work. Please make sure to honor this commitment as your 25% contribution is tax deductible.

SCHEDULE:
Unless otherwise stated, all activities listed below take place at the Artspace Gallery at 750 Center Street, Herndon VA. The “Old Town Hall Green” is located at the corner of Lynn street and Elden Street in historic Herndon next to the old train depot.

FRIDAY August 29th
-10am - 6pm Check-in @ Artspace, 750 Center street
Artists invited to paint in the Town of Herndon
- 2 Pieces of previously completed art by each competing artist will hang in gallery during weekend “Preview”

SATURDAY August 30th - SUNDAY 31st
Artists invited to paint in the Town of Herndon
10am - 6pm ArtSpace Gallery Open for “Preview” Exhibit (Check-in Continues)
Sunday 6pm - 8pm Artists Submit Art for Competition (Must be framed and ready to hang. Artspace gallery will be closed to artists and public during this time to hang art for Monday’s judging and month long exhibit! )

September 1st:
10am - 9pm ArtSpace Gallery Open (Check-in Continues)
11am Canvas stamping begins for Quick-Sketch
3:pm - Quick Sketch Judging on Old Town Hall Green (Artists set up paintings on your easels here in advance)
10am - 6:pm- Herndon Jazz & Wine Festival takes place on Lynne Street
6:30pm - Announcement of Competition Winners and Prizes given out at ArtSpace
