Donna Clawson
watercolor artist

Currently Donna works primarily in watercolors. She is fascinated by the transparent colors and the way the colors merge and dance on the paper. She especially enjoys painting nature scenes. Her favorite subjects are flowers, and the challenge they present in attempting to portray something so ethereal and fleeting and intensely beautiful.

(continued)
Her one time hobby has turned into a passion – a drive to portray a fleeting moment of time reflecting light and color. One surprising delight of pursuing this passion is the heightened sense of observation of nature, since nothing will make one observe more thoroughly than having to face the challenge of painting it. Shadows are a sense of wonder as they dance along object and move along the ground. Artists realize that even the simplest objects have their own beauty, if one just takes the time to notice it.

Donna has studied with Margaret Mead and has taken workshops with Rebecca Pearl, Margaret Martin, Jennifer Bowman, and Caroline Grosse Garawecki. She is a member of the Northern Virginia Artists League (NOVAL).
